3 Gaining an Award With Oxford Brookes Culinary Programme you are immediatley signed up in award terms for the Degree (Hons). As you successfully move through the programme and complete each level this is recorded at the appropriate exam board. If you decide for any reason to stop your studies you will be awarded the highest award you had fulfilled the requirements of at that point e.g.: Certificate in Higher Education (IMI Diploma) or Diploma in Higher Education (IMI Higher Diploma) You will only be issued with you highest award acheived when you finish your studies

4 Gaining an Award To pass any unit you need a minimum overall mark of 40% At each level you must sucessfully complete 120 credits

5 Progression A unit is passed when an overall minimum mark of 40% is scored on the first attempt at the assessment(s) Students who score an overall unit mark below 30% will be required to take the class with attendance over 10 weeks in order to make good the fail. Students cannot have condoned units at any level of the programme All units within a programme level must be successfully passed prior to the student progressing to the next academic level.

6 Resits Where students do not acheive a overall mark of 40% in any single unit then the student must resit the failed assessment(s) A resit mark will always be capped at 40% All OBU students may take advantage of in-year resits where failed units can be given a quick resit within the same period of study. Student are automatically given one chance to resit post term end regardless if they took the opportunity of the in-term resit.

7 Awards - Honours Weighted Average Mark (M) Honours Classification
First Class M = 60 – 69% Second Class, Division One (Upper Second) M = 50 – 59% Second Class, Division Two (Lower Second) M = 40 – 49% Third Class

8 Awards Honours – Alternative Method
Credit Profile (from 120 credits at Level 6) Together with minimum mean mark in Level 6 units Honours Classification At least 60 credits with marks ≥ 70% 68% First Class At least 60 credits with marks ≥ 60% 59% Class Two, Division One (Upper Second) At least 60 credits with mark ≥ 50% 49.5% Class Two, Division Two (Lower Second) At least 120 credits with marks of at least 40% 40% Third Class

9 Award of Prior Learning Credit (APL)
A student may transfer credits derived from either prior learning and/or concurrent study at another institution. In order to obtain an award from the University the minimum credit earned shall be as follows: Certificate of HE: 90 credits at Level 4 Diploma of HE: 90 credits at Level 5 or above Degree without Honours: 90 credits at Level 5 or above Honours degree: Level 6 credits
