Figurative: dying ember-cast a ghost-personification; end rhyme;

Connotation Identify and figure out the figurative language. Think non-literally! Attitude After identifying a subject/topic of the poem, how does the speaker feel? Shifts Note transitions in the poem. Shifts in subject, attitude, mood, or motif. Examine the title again. Answer your questions. Theme What is the big picture statement about life they make in the poem?
