The pervasiveness of Gen. 14
We know Gen. 14 is the first place in Scripture to speak of Armageddon and the setting up of the Kingdom. Gen. 14:13 and Rev. 16:16 are linked by the use of the word “Hebrew”. We now better appreciate Gen. 14: Roots of: Tokens of the sacrifice of Christ; Introduction to the Melchizedek order; El Elyon – Very important title of Deity; Sovereign possessor of heaven and earth. Deut. 32:8-9 “When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. For the LORD’S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.” El Elyon – Gen. 14:19 – “possessor of heaven and earth”. Commentary on events of Gen. 10 and 11. Melchizedek – Priest of the Most High God

Elyon – Reason for use in Luke 1
The N.T. equivalent of elyon is hupsistos. The Greek word occurs 13 times – 9 of God and 4 of His abode. Luke 1:32 – “shall be called the Son of the Highest”. Luke 1:35 – “the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee”. Luke 1:76 – “shalt be called the prophet of the Highest”. Fulfilling promises to Abraham and David – hence the use of the title. “El Elyon” and Armageddon – Ps. 83
Ps. 83 contains the title El Elyon – vv. 1 & 18. El Elyon first occurs in Gen. 14 (4 times) – context is a type/parable of Armageddon. The context is of a confederacy of nations determined to destroy Israel – vv. 2-5. Vv refer to Gideon’s overthrow of the Midianites and the destruction of Jabin/Sisera – Isa. 9:4; 10:26; Ps. 68:21 = Armageddon. Ten nations are listed – represents “all nations” who come against Israel – Zech. 14:1. The focus is on peoples/nations, not on territories – V.2, 9. “First, it is taken as a conclusion requiring no proof that the prophecies of the last days concerning Edom are about the Arabs since so many of the Arab tribes are descended from Esau and because ancient Edom is unquestionably Arab territory today.” Incorrect - see Obadiah 8-9 So, why is Edom at the head of the list of these 10 nations? Bro. Thomas on Esau Edom, in the prophecies concerning the restoration of Israel's kingdom in “the latter days,” is representative of the enemies of Jacob, banded together under the guardianship of Gog, who is then the Chief of the House of Esau Eureka Vol. 1 pg. 60 Thus, on returning home from their dispersion after they stand upon their feet as a great army, they will have to fight their way through all the countries of the house of Esau. Eureka Vol. 5 pg 52 Melchizedek – Priest of the Most High God

Esau represents all anti-Semitic latter day nations
Babylon and the Goat-nations..…. Esau will have had the dominion over Jacob long enough; and the time will now have arrived to prove to mankind “that there is a God that judgeth in the earth”. Esau has lived by his sword, but not righteously. Bro. Thomas – Eureka Vol. 5 pg. 50 Melchizedek – Priest of the Most High God
16
Esau represents all anti-Semitic latter day nations
He crucified the king of Israel, persecuted and killed his brethren, corrupted the faith, trod under foot the Holy City forty and two months, and poured out the blood of Jacob like water upon the ground. But they who war against Zion and her sons “shall be as nothing, as a thing of nought”. Bro. Thomas – Eureka Vol. 5 pg. 50 Melchizedek – Priest of the Most High God
17
Edom “the people of my curse” Isa. 34:5-10
“curse” - cherem - doomed, devoted to destruction. (The word is next to Hormah in the Dictionary of Biblical Hebrew words). Bozrah and Edom are typical names both here and in Isa. 63:1 (roots of Rev. 19). V The land of Edom is a reference to the peoples supporting Roman Catholic resistance to Christ after Armageddon. Proof! Melchizedek – Priest of the Most High God

Identification of Latter Day Edom
Isa. 34:9-10 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever. Rev. 14:10-11 …and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Cp. Isa. 34:11-15 with Rev. 18:1-2

Paul on the Areopagus Acts 17:22-34
Question – Did Paul stoop to using Gentile philosophical methods on Mars Hill? Melchizedek – Priest of the Most High God
20
“God has appointed a day”
Melchizedek in Ps. 9: V.2 – Elyon – connects with Gen. 14. Theme of “righteousness” – v.4,7-8. Armageddon – v.3,5,16,19-20. Paul quotes Ps. 9:8 in Acts 17:31: “And he shall judge the world in righteousness” Acts 17:31 – The two qualities of the Melchizedek order appear – Moral = “righteousness” – Physical = immortality. Melchizedek – Priest of the Most High God
21
“God has appointed a day”
Paul uses the themes of Ps. 9 “Possessor of heaven and earth” – Acts 17:24-25. “one blood” – Acts 17:26 (Deut. 32:8). “thy marvellous works” – v.1 – Acts 17:23-28. “memorials” – v.6,16 – Acts 17:22- 23,24-29. “forget God” – v.17 – Acts 17:30. Acts 17:30 - And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent. Melchizedek – Priest of the Most High God
22
What manner of people? 2 Pet. 3:10-14 – The pressing challenge of our times. V.11 – “Seeing that all these things are thus to be dissolved, what manner of persons, ought ye all the while to be, in holy ways of behaviour and acts of godliness.” Without spot – James 1:27; Heb. 1:9. Blameless through forgiveness – Jude 24; Rev. 7:13-14. Melchizedek – Priest of the Most High God
23
Rev 5: “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Cameos of the Kingdom
