Algebra 2 Chapter 2 Part B Review

Essential Questions How do you use transformations to help graph absolute value functions? Answer: you can use the values of a, h, and k in the form y = ±a|x – h| + k to determine how the parent function y = |x| has been transformed ( ± ⟹ + opens up/ - opens down, a ⟹ slope of sides, (h, k) ⟹ vertex).

What You Need to Know Transformations: translations, reflections, vertical stretches and compressions. Transform a graph by transforming individual points. Determine the transformations done to a graph. Transform a general function f(x). Determine the transformations done to a general function f(x).
4
What You Need to Know The parent absolute value function f(x) = |x|.
Transform and graph the absolute value function. Determine the transformations done to the parent absolute value function. Graph linear inequalities. Solve and graph linear inequality application problems. Graph absolute value inequalities.
