2 Chart Terms Explain: Different chart types are good for different data sets (see second page of document). Keep it simple. You may want to consolidate your data. Powerful if made in excel, can be updated in other office products. Show X and Y axis: X is independent variable and Y is dependent variable. Data series and legend.

5 Plotting Nonadjacent Selections
Selecting from the data. Selecting from the chart. Selecting from the Chart tools design tab. Page 7 of help document Show how you can hold down the CTRL key and select columns needed for data. Show how you can right click on the chart to change data.

6 Understanding series Add series (page 8 of help document).
Edit series window-(page 9) Series names are going to the legend. Series values are the data values that are plotted. Edit the legend. Work with the chart that has limited data from the last slides Select Design and select data under the chart tools. Get rid of the ={1} before selecting the series values! Move data on the legend by deleting and adding series names.

8 Assignment-due Monday Sep. 18th
Graph Skittles Isotope Data: Type in Data Set (hint: make the isotope color and atomic mass columns into one). Graph Isotope color/mass vs. Total # of Isotope into a bar graph. Include the following: Title, Axis title and units, and legend. Extra credit: Pie chart of % of total mass. Extra credit: pie chart of isotope color/mass vs. % of total mass.
