3 Task 1: Before you listen, look at the map of South America on the next page. Find the cities of Lima and Cuzco and the Andes Mountains. Discuss with others in your class what you already know about Peru.

5 Task 2: Now Lia wants to visit Peru. She goes to a travel agent to find out the best way to travel there. Let’s listen to the conversation between Lia and a travel agent and try to know more about Peru and then tick the things Lia says she liked going.

Why does Lia prefer to travel independently? Why does the travel agent advise her not to travel alone? No. She likes to look at things in her own time rather than being hurried from one place to another with a group. She might feel lonely. She might find it difficult because it’s her first visit.

4. How will Lia know about tours form Cuzco? Cuzco combines many of the things Lia likes doing. She can stay on her own in a hotel and take tours when she wants some company. The travel agent gives her a brochure.
