4 The Flooding Problem Parts of Zimbabwe are subject to frequent flooding during the summer months. These floods often take lives and cause damage to infrastructure and livelihoods.

5 The Flooding Problem There has been absence of a systematic nation-wide study on the nature and location of the different magnitudes of flood hazard.

6 The Flooding Problem In the absence of such a systematic study flood emergency response personnel are put in the difficult position of predicting where the flood may occur, issuing adequate and timely warnings, and developing evacuation plans with limited information to draw on.

7 The Flooding Problem We undertook a systematic study of flood hazard in Zimbabwe and determining populations, ecosystems and infrastructure at risk currently
