Task – For your allocated map and table of figures you are to describe the pattern of the map and changing trends shown by the table. There is a reference slide on the next page to help you Work on the basis that each map is worth 6 marks and each table is worth 6 marks for describing the trends Ensure that the comments are in “Gill Sans” and in the notes section of the slide. to me so we can peer mark next lesson

A GUIDE TO WORKING WITH MAP AND GRAPH QUESTIONS Answering “Map” Questions Answering “Graph” questions Go for the overall pattern (usually the word “uneven” will do) Go for the highest values first Go for the lowest values next Go for the anomaly if possible Ensure that you back up with region names (East Africa) ands if possible a name of a country You must ensure that there is figures to provide evidence for your statements Go for the overall trend (up or down) State whether trend is rapid, slow or fluctuating If there is more than 1 line to look at pick out the one which changes the most or seems the most important – maybe compare to others You must ensure that you use figures where possible If you can use figures try and manipulate the figures by using maths Remember to include place names and dates In summary……..remember dates, place names, figures, maths if possible If you are asked to compare different graphs, maps remember to use comparison words WHEREAS, COMPARED TO, ON THE OTHER HAND
