1 Jennifer Miller’s Digital Portfolio!
2nd Period. October, 2011

2 Jennifer My Artist Statement Miki 
My cello, Miku (Most people name their instruments) Rima  I grew up here, in Crystal River, but I was born in Tampa. I’ve been trying to learn Korean for half a year. 아뇽! I like playing the cello and cooking. I’ve been playing the cello for almost nine years. Although I’m not the best at it, I enjoy attempting to draw anime. My favorite anime is “Shugo Chara”. My favorite character from Shugo Chara is Rima, and my favorite Chara guardian is Miki. I also love playing with clay and glazing, and painting.

3 Pablo Picasso is my favorite artist. He was alive 1881-1973
Pablo Picasso is my favorite artist. He was alive His art is abstract, but I love how colorful everything is! He takes what he sees and turns it into something cool. My favorite quote by him is, “Everything you can imagine is real.” I love that quote because I believe in it 100%. No matter what, whatever you think of, you can always make it come true. An Artist I admire…

4 This is a drawing I made on paint
This is a drawing I made on paint. I drew her kind of shady, showing mystery. I drew her with no eyes and a sly smile so that it creates a sort of scary mood. The colors black, red and purple are dark colors and add to the mood. She has no skin color to show immortality, like she came back from the dead. I named her Trace. (For no apparent reason.) Trace

5 I made this clay and glazed gargoyle in art
I made this clay and glazed gargoyle in art. It was the art project I enjoyed the most. A gargoyle isn’t always scary, though they were often made scary in medieval times because they were said to scare away evil spirits. A gargoyle is basically an animal or object with a hole somewhere to let water flow through. The hole is in the mouth of mine. I made mine in the form of a red squirrel because they are my favorite animal. The back part is an acorn. I title this “Fire Nut” Because I got a toy stuffed animal years ago that was a red squirrel and it was my favorite. TADA! My clay gargoyle, Fire Nut. Clay Gargoyle

6 This is a Vanita’s still life I drew in art
This is a Vanita’s still life I drew in art. I enjoyed this project a lot because it was fun to shade and see how I interpreted the objects I saw. I loved drawing the globe. I thought it turned out cool. I colored it with water color pencils Mrs. Faust had. They were so awesome! I only colored in a few things on it to make the objects I liked a lot, pop out. TADA! My still life. Vinita's Still Life.

7 These are my block prints
These are my block prints. I drew a sketch of my block print, and carved it into a “block”. It’s funny how its called a block when it’s made of rubber. I had a lot of fun with this. The design I used was a cello. I used this design because I play the cello and it’s a big chunk of my life. Half of the print is color and the other half not. I did this because music is interpreted into different things and I am too. TADA! My block prints! Block Prints

8 This is my REAL portfolio cover. I made it all colorful and pretty
This is my REAL portfolio cover. I made it all colorful and pretty. The tiara says “Yeh beu tda” Which means “very pretty” in Korean. I put the 2 on the waterfall because I thought it would look cool if it looks like the rocks are keeping it from falling off. I love unicorns so I added that in and I love fiction which is why I put the fairy in there. TADA! My portfolio. My Portfolio

9 This is my batik. We had to choose an endangered species and draw them
This is my batik! We had to choose an endangered species and draw them. I chose the Mexican Walking Fish. After it was drawn we colored every inch of the paper with crayon (wax). Then we crumpled the paper up, (The only time I’d be okay with doing that to my art.) and Mrs. Faust put black ink on it. Lastly, we pressed it to paper to get all the extra ink off and TADA! My batik! Batik

10 This is my fish print. It was fun making this
This is my fish print! It was fun making this. We took a rubber fish, and put acrylic paint all over it. Then we took some rice paper, and put the fish on. We held it there for a few seconds and pulled it off then (Ready for me to say “tada” again?) TADA! My fish print! The stamp in the lower right corner is called a hanku stamp. We carved a little rubber block as our signature. Mine’s a music note and my name “Jen” in Korean. Fish Prints

11 Mwahahaha… you can’t escape THAT easy. I still have ONE MORE SLIDE
Mwahahaha… you can’t escape THAT easy! I still have ONE MORE SLIDE! This slide is for Mrs. Faust, for being the best art teacher in the WORLD! You’re the best Mrs. Faust! (By the way You had one rockin’ hat!) 고맢솜니다 젤잘 나가! (Thanks for being the best!) Mrs. Faust!
