asbestos is being loosened up, cleaned and mixed with cement
 production of acid and fireproof plates, bricks, pipes or flower pots
2009 the enviromental authority ordered the redevelopment of asbestos

5. Asbestos disposable problem
 known for a long time as the ,, miracle” fiber, because it`s fire-proof, acid-proof and solid
was used in the manufacturing of ships, insulation and construction industry, tyre production
only after many cases of disease people stopped using it

6. Transportation of disposed asbestos
transport: about 150 km
Ihlenberg landfill exists for many years
 special waste a mixture of many countries (EU)
plan: about 40 trucks daily and transport the waste
dangers: - accident risk for drivers,
- helpers, police, paramedics
- not dust- protected
- the transport is not airtight

9. Rules for asbestos disposal
hazardous substances  disposal only by knowledgeable staff
don`t brake the plates (under any circumstances!)
don`t produce dust!
don´t use high-pressure cleaners or other cleaners!

11. Dumps waste material is locked in trucks
the surface of the material has to be wet and muddy
foamy material and tarpaulin are used for protection
before the trucks leave the dump, they are cleaned thoroughly

12. Wind park
wind park with a total capacity of 21 megawatts east from Schwerin, in Hohen Pritz (from Nordex Co.)
northeast Germany uses more and more ‘green’ energy
German wind energy is ‘popular’ – 75% is exported to countries like Austria, Poland and Czech Republic

14. Pros
no fuel is required, wind energy saves money because it's renewable
no visible, ground or air pollution
do not require much (or any) electrical supply
creates new jobs and new businesses, strengthening the economy

15. “small footprint” - wind turbine towers interfere only a little with the surface activity (for example farming)
phased growth: you can increase production capacity as your needs grow

16. Cons fish, birds, and seals might be disturbed or hurt
turbines can ruin natural beauty and are expensive to build, and people need to take care of them
don’t generate enough power to replace nuclear or petroleum-based power sources
take up more space and give out less power compared to other energy sources
high installation cost

17. Baltic 1 first commercial offshore wind park on the Baltic Sea
– Angela Merkel ‘officially’ gave permission to start building it
Merkel: “It is a new chapter for energy production in Germany”
problem: pipelines that transport energy to the mainland still have to be built
