2. How it started...
Thanksgiving became a holiday almost 400 years ago, in 1621.
The holiday originated in
Massachusetts when the
pilgrims arrived and settled in
1620. Iroquois Indians
greeted them and one year
later they had a Thanksgiving
Feast together.

3. Symbolic of the first Thanksgiving
First, the Pilgrim fathers wanted to thank God for their first crop.
Then, they wanted to thank Native Americans for their friendship and help .
Now, every year, on the fourth Thursday of November, Americans celebrate Thanksgiving!
It is not a national holiday, it is an American holiday!!

4. Thanksgiving Celebration Today!
On Thanksgiving families get together and have a big harvest feast! They eat turkey with stuffing, corn, potatoes, pumpkin pies, grapes... Everyone gets a BIG stomach ache!

5. Thanksgiving Customs
The customs of Thanksgiving are: eating, seeing your family, singing, being thankful for people coming over because some people don't see their family very often !
It is a thankful and a grateful day!
People show gratitude.
