… is anchored in HCR’s Global Strategic Priorities No. 4 and 7 that states: “Ensure provision of basic needs and essential services for persons of concern without discrimination” … and to … “Ensure the office maintains a leadership role in international protection and that field operations are supported to provide the fullest possible coverage of the needs of people of concern.”

SMS’ Critical Success Factors
Assure delivery of the right items of the right quantity, at the right time, to the right place with the right quality to our key customers. Global management of all stocks world-wide to optimise stock levels and reduce cost. Timely delivery of relief items in all emergencies and assurance of immediate delivery of key items when requested. Efficient & effective management of Property, Plant and Equipment (PPE), including fleet assets. Adequate and competent Supply Chain organisation exists in HQ and the Field.

Global Stock Management: How?
By having visibility, ownership and authority over stockpiles, SMS has a global overview and management of stock levels and flows. This global overview, combined with the authority over the stocks, allows SMS to quickly move stock where and when needed by operations.

New Strategic Stockpile Network
Emergency airlift capability (Dubai, Cop, Amman, Douala, Isaka) Regional NFI’s stockpiles: buffer for region (on going) Douala, Isaka, Nairobi, Djibouti, Accra. Far East and Americas tbd

GSM and Emergencies: More Sources of Relief Items
Set up three-pronged approach to emergency supply: air-immediate! land-in five days (from Regional stockpiles) white stocks - by sea, from suppliers, to replenish stockpiles
