My Amazing travel Journal

2
Beginning My family won the lottery. It was decided, the money we received had to be used for traveling. After having a discussion about the places we were going to visit, North Africa really got into our minds. The reason we wanted to go is to visit the great pyramids in Egypt.
3
Morocco, Rabat We began far in the west, in the capital of Morocco.
As we got to the airport what I noticed was that the weather was mediterranean, kind of mild. I didn’t notice a great difference on the weather, because here it’s hot too. We visited the whole city and what really caught my attention was that Couscous, I really loved it.
4
Rabat Finally we were in the hotel, I was exhausted so I lied on the couch to watch the news channel, we needed to know what was going on around us. Some of the things I saw were: The weather in daytime was at 28°C and at night can drop to 0°. Most of the people are Muslims, this city is very religious, it’s amazing!. There are announcements everywhere, all of them supporting their king Mohammed VI.
5
Algeria We left Morocco, I felt sad but we had to leave because of the war going on. Our next country was Algeria, we got there by train. What really impressed me was that it was a big country, actually the 2nd largest one in Africa. In the surroundings I saw mountains and fertile territories. We landed in the capital Algiers and began our journey throughout this beautiful city.
6
Algeria The climate was about 36°C. It was even hotter than here!.
This city is very expensive, a local business man told us it was the most expensive city in North Africa. It’s not getting my interest. We visited the Monument des Martyrs that is in honor to the battle of independence, it’s very modern by the way. Something else I couldn’t stop noticing was that this country is really agricultural and a low percentage of the population is unemployed.
7
LibYa Our trip by train couldn’t have been more boring. We lasted a whole day traveling, but in that time I could see the mountains and rivers. When I got to Libya all I could see was desert and more desert. Its temperature was really hot, a desert like temperature. A civil war was going on, it really scared me. In the streets all I could see was people with guns. We had to leave that country as fast as possible. Something I heard was that the economics there was good, because they have petroleum!. I wish we had half of the petroleum they can get in one week.
8
War That video is part of what I saw in the news, and eventhough it looks cruel, it’s not as bad as what happened in front of me. I don’t know what will happen in the future, but I hope this war ends soon.
9
Egypt Finally, I am in Egypt, this country is what will make the difference. This is what will make my journey more interesting. This country is really hot, I’m always drinking water, but I like it, it’s like a sauna. What makes this country so hot is the desert, it’s all surrounded by sand. We visited the pyramids, saw hieroglyphics and visited the Great Sphinx.
10
Saudi arabia Our next stop was to be Saudi Arabia, we were staying without money, so we had to make our trip shorter. We went by boat, because we had to go across a sea, the red sea. When we got to Saudi Arabia, nothing really seemed to change, it was as hot as in Egypt and it was all full of desert. Riyadh is it’s capital. This country is one of the largest middle-east countries!.
11
Saudi arabia As you know, the Arabs are the richest people in the world, here you can find the majority of them. Their economy is based on petroleum exportation. This country really impressed me, not only because of the good and strategic location, but because here you find from the most multimillionaire person, to the poorest one.
12
Iraq Now we arrive to Iraq, and it’s capital city Baghdad.
Iraq is a country located in Western Asia, between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. It makes me remember that one of the greatest ancient civilizations was located there, Mesopotamia.
13
iraq I felt sad in this country, they have been suffering since long time ago. Now that they are no longer in war with the United States and Iran, their country is a total mess. They are reconstructing the nation, and it will take long until it can get to be how it was before war.
14
iran After being in Iraq, we are going to Iran, I don’t think it will be different from Iraq, because it was in war too. Let’s see what surprises it can give me. It’s capital is Tehran. This country is strategically located. It’s surroundings are the Caspian sea, the Arabian sea and the Persian gulf. They are just perfectly located for trading and exporting products.
15
iran Iran was before Persia, one of the oldest civilizations in the world. It is a major power in the economics. It’s economy is based on petroleum and natural gas. This country is considered a criminal country, because the United States think they are developing nuclear bombs, just like Iraq.
16
Afghanistan Finally, we are in our last drop before going back home.
This country is very mountainous, and is strategically located too. It’s capital city is Kabul, is the largest city in this small country. The climate varies by regions and tends to change quite rapidly.
17
afghanistan This is a really poor country, how sad.
The unemployment is 35% of the population, and 36% of the people are below the poverty line. 42% of the population live with less than 1 dollar a day!, that’s almost impossible. But they can prosper, they have tons of petroleum, of natural gas, of gold and much more things. They just have to explode those raw materials in order to have a better economy.
18
The end Eventhough I had a great time, I must go back home, vacations are getting over, and I am anxious to tell my friends and teachers about the Journey I had, and to give them little gifts I bought in the different places
