LOCATION Langres Cheese is most commonly found in Champagne-Ardenne area in France. Champagne-Ardenne is one of the 27 regions of France. It is located in the northeast of the country, bordering Belgium, and consists of four departments: Aube, Ardennes, Haute-Marne, and Marne. The region is famous for its sparkling white wine.

TASTE & Service Langres, being a close relative of the Epoisses de Bourgogne cheese, is has a very strong smell to it. Though being very similar to that cheese, Langres has a very strong flavor, and is a bit saltier than Epoisses. Langres should be served with Salad and Red Wine or Champagne, and be eaten in minute quantities alongside these.

Other Facts Its name and origin comes from a town in Haute Mame.
Langres dates back to the 1700s but it was only admitted into the AOC in 1991. Ripening takes 5-6 weeks, and needs to be placed in humid cellars.
