3. The What?
In the beginning of the chapter, Pip received a letter from Biddy saying that Joe and Mr. Wopsle are coming to visit Pip. Pip isn’t very glad that Joe is coming and would rather pay him than for him to come. Pip started to decorate his house and hired a young boy with the name of Pepper to be his servant of which he calls The Avenged Phantom or Avenger because he is hanging around like a ghost and Pip doesn’t really have anything for him to do. When Joe arrived he kept calling Pip “sir” and Pip didn’t know why he was calling him that. When Pip and Joe were alone, Joe told Pip the reason for his visit. Joe said that Miss Havisham told him that Estella has come home and would be glad to see Pip. Pip got really excited when he hears the news ,but Joe says he must go and that he doesn’t belong in a place like London.

4. The Why? Pip wants to go back to his home town to see Estella
When Pip got the news about Estella, Pip tries to act nicer towards Joe but Joe left before any of that happened.
Mr. Pumblechook is taking credit for Pip’s fortune

5. The How?
Joe knows that Pip doesn’t want him to be there so he decides to go back home early
By Pip wanting Joe to be more formal and educated, Joe started to call Pip sir.

6. The Message
If at first you don’t succeed try, try again. At the beginning Estella didn’t want Pip because he was a lower class man with no manners but then he changed into a gentlemen and Estella now wants him.

7. Chapter 28

8. The What?
In the beginning of the chapter, Pip was off to his home town on the coach. Two convicts were getting transported on the same coach and Pip knew one of them. The convict Pip knew was the one who gave him the two pound note years ago in the Three Jolly Bargemen. Pip hoped that the convict wouldn’t recognized him. Pip was sitting in front of the convict and could hear the convict that he knew talking about giving a little boy a two pound note years ago. Pip got off at the first stop so the convict wouldn’t recognize him. When Pip arrived at the Blue Boar, people recognized him as the one Mr. Punblechook helped to get his fortune.

9. The Why?
Pip decides to stay at the Blue Boar then staying with his sister and Joe because he was not going to be expected and it’s too far from Miss Havisham
When Pip saw the convict, he decided to get off the first stop so he would not be seen

10. The How?
Pip getting off the coach early helped him not get recognized by the convict.
By Pip becoming a gentlemen it gives Mr. Pumblechook more fame

11. The Message

Pip never thought he would see this man again until he saw him on the coach.

12. Satire & Figurative Language
Satire: “I had even started a boy in boots……I had to find him a little to do.” pg.230 Dickens shows how people that have a lot of money buys thing that they don’t even need. Metaphor: “the light of liberty..” pg.229 Biddy hope that Pip doesn’t think of Joe as a dumb man. “the love of the poor old days” pg. 229 When Pip and Joe were really close.
