Loch Ness Loch Ness is the biggest lake in Scotland. It’s in Inverness, in the Scottish Highlands and is best known for the rare sightings of the legendary Loch Ness Monster, also known as "Nessie”. There is more water in Loch Ness than in all the other lakes in Scotland, England and Wales together

Loch Ness Monster The Loch Ness Monster is called Nessie and is known as a plesiosaur-like creature that is said to live in the Loch

The first ever Loch Ness Monster sighting was in 565 A
The first ever Loch Ness Monster sighting was in 565 A.D by an Irish Saint named Saint Columba There have been over 2,000 Loch Ness Monster Sightings since Saint Columba’s. Even though there are lots of photos and thousands of sightings, the existence of the beast is still an unsolved mystery. The last Loch Ness Monster sighting to date was in August of 2002.

Ancient Legends In ancient Scotland, there were ancient people called Picts. One of the Picts legends described a terrible beast living in a nearby loch. They also carved a picture of the beast in stone. The beast carved in the rock looked like a smaller version of what Nessie is said to looks like.

Modern legend of Nessie
The modern legend of Nessie began in 1934 with Dr. Robert Kenneth Wilson, a London doctor, said he photographed a plesiosaur-like monster with a long neck coming out of the water.

In 2012, George Edwards took a photo of what he thinks is Nessie.
He works on Loch Ness taking tourists out on his boat to see if they can see Nessie
