7 THE PILGRIMS In England, a small group wanted religious freedom.
They were called the PILGRIMS. They decided to leave England to go to AMERICA

8 The group of Pilgrims decided to leave England on August, 1620.
THE MAYFLOWER The group of Pilgrims decided to leave England on August, 1620. They left on a boat called the MAYFLOWER

9 ARRIVAL IN AMERICA 102 passengers formed the group of Pilgrims.
They settled in Virginia (near today’s New York), and formed the Plymouth Colony. After a long journey, they arrived in November, 9th, 1620.

10 THE FIRST WINTER AFTER THEIR ARRIVAL IN THE COLONY
Winter arrived and it was very cold, freezing, and harsh for the Pilgrims. 40 of them died.

11 SPRING When Spring arrived, the Pilgrims decided to start planting food. But, the crops wouldn’t grow.

12 The crops didn’t grow and the Pilgrims couldn’t hunt or fish

13 THE NATIVE AMERICANS The Pilgrims lived near the Wampanoag Tribe. The Leader was Squanto. The Native Americans helped the Pilgrims plant corn, peas, barley,… and they taught them how to use medicinal plants

14 This is a horn of plenty, symbolizing the abundant harvest that the Pilgrims got on the following Autumn.

15 To celebrate the generous harvest, the Pilgrims decided to organise a feast. They invited the Native Americans, to thank them for their help. It became known as the FIRST THANKSGIVING.
