Land fragmentation: The problem
Uganda has 660,000 ha of arable land. That is 68% of entire land mass (according to world bank). We are no where near full potential (World Bank). Small holder farming or subsistence. Land ownership ≠ Occupancy rights. Agricultural input suppliers and agro-processors can’t find farmers easily. Farmers are at mercy of aggregators (middlemen). Farming isn’t “cool” to youth today. No access to financing for farmers or financiers to farmers.

Farm Connect Uganda limited
Aims to; Modernise agriculture through increasing visibility and participation. Create, nurture and maintain synergies with small hold farmers inter se and with land owners. Create viable rural based jobs for under employed and unemployed youth. Enhance small hold farmer incomes, increase access to financing and increase savings. Leverage small hold farmers bargaining power.

Farm Connect Uganda limited
Does this by; Building a user friendly and accessible platform to link or network small scale farmers with: land owners, suppliers of agricultural inputs, purchasers of agricultural produce and financiers. Providing training for networked farm managers, who will be the change agents to kick start the physical networking of small holder farms across the country. The aim will be first to create micro physically networked farms – small holder farmers coming together at village level to farm together with each other and the local land owner and then joining the macro virtually networked farms.
