Cholera is caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholera, which infects the lining of the small intestine.

T RANSMISSION / SYMPTOMS Contact with body matter, like vomit and feces. Food Water Watery diarrhea Vomiting nausea Fever Dehydration

D IAGNOSE Culturing stool Blood test Test under microscope of fresh stool

T REATMENT Replacing fluids and electrolytes Antibiotic Intravenous fluids Zinc supplement Rice-based solutions

P REVENTION Washing hands with clean water Eat food completely cooked and hot in temperature Avoid sushi Eat fruit and vegetables that can be pealed Drink only safe water
