Citizens have a say in who represents them
Limited government
Belief that the government’s power should be checked (9th and 10th Amendments)
Federalism
Divided and shared powers between the state and federal government. Federal government is the Supreme law of the land.
Separation of powers
Creation of 3 branches of government: (Articles 1-3)
Checks and balances
Make sure one branch doesn’t become too powerful.
