Fahrenheit 451 Journal Questions

Fahrenheit 451 Journal #1 What paradigm(s) is Montag believing at the beginning of this book? How can we use cognitive dissonance to explain how he is already losing one of his beliefs/paradigms?

Fahrenheit 451 Journal #2 “Everything’s amazing, and nobody’s happy.”
I would argue that one big reason for this is that we have a struggle with our amazing technology and the question of where the hegemony lies in that relationship. What do I mean by that, and do you agree? Or what do you think about it?

Fahrenheit 451 Journal #3 Dandelions. If this story is an allegory, what is the connective power of the symbol? How did Clarisse see dandelions? What are dandelions, really? And how do responsible people deal with them?

Fahrenheit 451 Journal #3 Dandelions. How do children interact with dandelions?

Fahrenheit 451 Journal #3 Dandelions. Is there a better life to be found in re-learning to love those weeds? (...and the symbolism of this weed/flower?) If this is a symbol, how can we apply it to OUR lives?

Fahrenheit 451 Journal #4 As we finish Part 1, the once smiling Montag is unhappy and scared for his life, he has brought his wife into a chaotic and dangerous situation, and the girl who took his smiling happiness away from him is gone and likely dead. Was it worth it? Was Clarisse a hero or a villain for disrupting things? Why?

Journal Response #5 Hegemony Paradigm Paradigm Shift Cognitive Dissonance Paradox Allegory Transcend Attribution Error Alliteracy Write a summary of Part 1 of Fahrenheit 451 using 5 of these terms in the explanation. You may use any form of the word as long as the term is used accurately (according to our definition). Extra Credit for each extra word used beyond 5.
