DOM integration meeting
December Daan van Eijk
2
actions from previous-previous meeting
Daniele: Status of retuned HV on 6 PMTs in DOM67 Send instructions of how to obtain the advertised white gas (to Emanuele in particular!) Send pictures of optional markings on glass and bottom support structure when gluing the piezo Emanuele: Send data sheet to DvE for the ‘nafta’ that was bought as ‘white gas’ Was the Eurol white gas ordered finally??? Oleg: Perform (yet another) gel hardening test on the material of the tube itself
3
actions from previous meeting
None!!!

Integration reminder document
I placed it on the Indico again for completeness… Grounding cable is no longer mounted!!! Use the new DOM integration software, v1.8 Step 25 (preparation of components): use the new fiber tray routing procedure (according to KM3NeT_INT_2014_007_DOM_Fibre_Tray_Routing_Procedure_v4) Step B.4: apply kapton tape on the unsoldered test connector J4 of the power board Step G.6 and I.6: pay attention to the orientation of the reflector rings Ethanol is not used as cleaning agent anymore, only isopropanol Step A.2: use white gas instead of white spirit to clean the mushroom. White gas to use: Eurol cleaning spirit 100/140 (don’t let that name confuse you, this is something different than ‘normal’ white spirit!!!) All screw torques have been defined and you’re expected to adhere to them. There is one exception in step B.10: it’s impossible to reach this screw with a torque screwdriver. We don’t use calibrated PMTs anymore: Use the latest version of the Get_PMT_HV_settings.py script ( to obtain the uncalibrated HV values from the KM3NeT DB in the DOM acceptance test

DOM production Planning and status
realized planned Current DOM count 2016: = 91 Total current DOM count: 19 (2014) + 46 (2015) + 91 (2016) = 156
6
DOM production Planning and status
realized planned Erlangen’s 2016 DOM production target was scaled down by 18 DOMs Catania and Naples will build same lines as small production in 2015: 51 DOMs instead of 54 by end of 2016 Still to close: 19 (Ams) + 2x(18+15) (Cat, Nap)+ 16 (Erl) + 1 (Ath) = 102 DOMs (And =193)
7
DOM production Planning and status
realized planned DOM production 2017: any objections?
8
Other items (1) DOM integration halted after step L in procedure because of: Missing BOOTREQUEST for deployed DOMs -> hardware problem??? Protruding soldering on power board causing problems at DOM testing (more later) Nanobeacon cables non-conformity (more later) Can we continue gelling tested lower hemispheres? (I think we can…) QA/QC visit/audit of Nikhef integration site: KM3NeT_QA_2016_233-DOM_Integration_Site_Inspection_Nikhef_ Next integration site to be visited: Naples, before the DOM review and STAC visit Quick question to Daniele: are you using the DOM integration software? Request to return inventory of DOM components available for production at all integration sites before end of 2016
9
Other items (2) Rene: step B.3 and B.5 are not very convenient:by putting the gap pad on the mushroom, you can’t easily see the orientation of the power board. You NEED to look at the procedure picture, instead of at the mushroom and board itself What do you think? DOM opening procedure KM3NeT_DOM_2016_010-DOM_Opening_Procedure_v1 So far I have received comments from Marco only No comments whatsoever???

Malfunctioning electronics boards (1)
General note: I’ve noticed that malfunctioning electronic boards are replaced and put aside… Please, write an NCR right away, inform the relevant people - in particular Diego as coordinator Electronics - and send the board back to him for diagnosis and possible repair This includes: piezo’s, nanobeacon + cable, CLB, powerboard, octopus boards
11
Malfunctioning electronics boards (2)
Nanobeacon + cable: NCR 2016_249 (please read!) The connector of the nanobeacon cables is unreliable Solution: For 2017 DOM production, send all nanobeacon + nanobeacon cables back to Valencia, where the cables will be repaired Advantage: possibility to correctly redistribute these components matching 2017 DOM production
12
Malfunctioning electronics boards (3)
Protruding soldering on power boards (1) All power boards of version 2, 4 and 5 have soldering in the openings of (deprecated) connector J4 Action taken two months ago: Might not be enough. Can your local Electronics Department remove the soldering altogether using soldering tool and suction? If not possible, should we send those boards back to Diego for the Electronics team to repair?

Malfunctioning electronics boards (4)
Protruding soldering on power boards (2) Amsterdam: /V2-3/5.266: NCR 2016_138 DOM129, CLB: /V2-2-1/2.65, PB: /V2-3/5.524: NCR 2016_244, clock reset, not confirmed yet it’s the power board DOM142, CLB: /V2-2-1/2.46, PB: /V2-3/1.96: NCR 2016_243, clock reset, not confirmed yet it’s the power board Erlangen: DOM76, CLB /V2-2-1/2.91, PB /V2-3/4.222: NCR 2016_203. News 23/11/2016: checking the CLB+PB on the table: still malfunctioning -> it was not the soldering! Replace PB -> OK. Integrate new PB (with kapton!!!). ‘Gap pad was pushed, not punctured’. New PB serial unknown yet. Oleg? DOM88, CLB /V2-2-1/2.390, PB /V2-3/4.178: NCR 2016_238. News 23/11/2016: checking the CLB+PB on the table -> OK. Integrate the original CLB+PB (with kapton!!!). ‘Gap pad was pushed, not punctured’. Catania: none! Naples: /V2-3/5.481: no NCR yet, current absorption more than usual (about 120mA higher) /V2-3/5.480: no NCR yet, "an issue with the finite state machine (FSM) in the Slow Control GUI" /V2-3/5.518: no NCR yet, "an issue with the FSM in the Slow Control GUI"

Protruding soldering on power boards (3): Diego DvE: but some individual boards do, somehow… DvE: Also affected!!! DvE: Also affected!!!
