WINGS 2017 organized by Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India (MoCA) with FICCI on 07th July 2017 at Manekshaw Centre, Dhaulakuan. New Delhi.

2 INTRODUCTION: INTRODUCTION: on the outset we would like to thank you for making us part of this event, Telangana state  is the youngest state  in India, located in southern India Formed in June 2014. Its major cities include Hyderabad, Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, and Nizamabad. Telangana is bordered by the states of Maharashtra to the north and north west, Chhattisgarh to the north, Karnataka to the west and Andhra Pradesh to the east and south. After Bifurcation of the State from erstwhile Andhra Pradesh , the state of Telangana is left with only 2 active airfields for civil operations , GMR Shamshabad Airport and Begumpet Airport. To keep in pace with the rapid growth and investments coming into the state of Telangana in various sectors like, IT & Industries, Pharma, Irrigation, Agriculture, Tourism , Textiles and so on so forth , the state has envisaged the need of new airfields.

3 Hence a proposal of the projected need for new airfields is been already submitted to MoCA.
Proposed Airports by Government of Telangana: Hon’ble Minister, MA&UD, I&C has requested that the following locations to be considered for setting up of Greenfield airports for the purpose of RCS. 1.New Greenfield airport at Kothagudem – feasibility steady completed and Approved by MoCA and Land acquisition under process . 2.Greenfield facility at Zakranpally in Nizamabad – AAI may expedite the process for including the project under RCS. 3.Hyderabad Pharma City and NIMZ City, Medak – Inclusion in the list of proposed RCS in the State. The reply from the MoCA on the above proposals is awaited. Non-Operational Airports at Telangana state. Warangal - AAI has 748 acres requested State Govt. for additional 438 acres. Proposal under consideration. Adilabad acres with AAI, defence has expressed interest to takeover the airfield and requested state Govt. for 1592 acres with a clause that it can be offered for civil operations also.

4 Nizamabad AAI requested for 554 acres may be acquired in Phase-I and land required for Category 3C is 347 acres approx. for Phase-II. Basanth Nagar(Peddapalli) - Abandoned airstrip and land of 287 acres available with State. MoCA is requested to take steps to upgrade the airfield and connect in RCS. > We have already requested to consider few of the above airfields to be included in the coming phases of RCS hence request MoCA to kindly expedite at the same time state is also working closely with all concerned agencies for speeding up the clearances at state level and to get the airfields active as soon as possible. Government of Telangana has already signed the MoU on RCS UDDAN by signing the MOU State Government has agreed to the concessions and other benefits to be extended by state as per the MOU.
