1 Post-mortem of Experience with LEIR Controls
Sergio Pasinelli on behalf of the LEIR commissioning team

2 Outlines Introduction Status in 2005 Request for 2006 Conclusions
Generalities Needs Schedules Status in 2005 Request for 2006 Conclusions Chamonix /01/2006 S. Pasinelli

3 The Deal From CO: To test and validate, in an operational environment, certain choices suggested for the control of the LHC From OP: The new tools will have to provide the same functionalities, availability and reliability which are currently proposed by the CPS. Chamonix /01/2006 S. Pasinelli

4 Description LEIR is between LINAC 3 and the PS.
The Control system of the LINAC 3 and PS, is that of the CPS LEIR is a hybrid control system, composed of elements from the CPS and LHC Chamonix /01/2006 S. Pasinelli

5 We are Here Chamonix /01/2006 S. Pasinelli

18 Conclusions Use of LHC controls for LEIR very ambitious
Schedules not respected Many softwares not ready Communication lack between CO projects The CO priorities for LEIR softwares to low CO effort for LEIR in autumn Tests TI8 and TT40 was not enough for LEIR Chamonix /01/2006 S. Pasinelli

19 Conclusions There can be an inconsistency between the supercycle from “Cycle Editor" and from the MTG with the long plateau CPS & CSL knowledge used in the LEIR softwares Excellent support and reactivity from softwares developers The effort must continue, the commisionning is not finished! Chamonix /01/2006 S. Pasinelli

20 A Control system allowing working
Conclusions A Control system allowing working (but not yet perfect) is available Chamonix /01/2006 S. Pasinelli
