Purpose:
To support members of staff during their probationary period and beyond.
To explain and review educational practice both in general and specific to Kirklees College.
To provide a starting point for future CPD.
To introduce you to the ATLC team & the Research & Development Centres.

Stage 1:
Introduction to the process
Introduction to the ATLCs & the RDCs.
Self Evaluation
Two sessions – Lesson Planning and Lesson Observation
Developmental observation by ATLC
Stage 2:
3-4 sessions one to one on themes arising from your self evaluation and the observation

3. Advanced Teaching & Learning Coaches
The team consists of 10 ATLCs who work across college to support any aspect of teaching and learning

How2teach – evidence based strategies
Shadow/peer observe – can be arranged within teams or to link teams
Working with link teams to support staff
We also carry out project work; attend external & internal events to bring new innovative ideas into the college.
All ATLCs support all areas of college, but contact your link team ATLCs in the first instance if you require any support for teaching and learning.

6. Research & Development Centres
The RDCs in HC & DC are open for use by staff at all times.
They are staffed by the ATLC team.
The opening times for the centres change weekly.

The list is based broadly on the criteria used to evaluate teaching & learning in a lesson observation.
For each item score yourself
1 = I feel confident with this and don’t feel I need to work on this.
2 = I feel confident with this but have some questions.
3 = I feel fairly confident with this would like to develop.
4 = I am worried about this but this isn’t a priority for me
5 = I am worried about this and would like to work on this.
