Sci ;48(8): doi: /iovs Figure Legend: Deamination of Kyn at pH 7.0 and reaction with lens proteins to form Kyn-amino acid adducts. Protein-bound Kyn-His is stable under physiological conditions, but both Kyn-Cys and Kyn-Lys are unstable. Glutathione reacts with deaminated Kyn and also enhances the rate of decomposition of Kyn-Cys.
