Abraham Lincoln- Republican John C. Breckinridge- Southern Democrat Stephen Douglas- Northern Democrat John Bell- Constitutional Unionist

3 What happened Lincoln won the election with: 180 Electoral Votes
He did not carry a single southern state

4 When did it happen? In 1860 Directly Before the Civil War

5 Where did it happen? All throughout the United States

6 How did it increase the tension between the north and the south?
The North elected Lincoln who was antislavery The south rejected Lincoln because of proslavery position South Carolina seceded soon after his election
