2 What is Kingswood? Kingswood is a well-established company which provides learning outside the classroom in a safe, secure environment. Their aim is provide a residential trip which will instil self-confidence and a sense of achievement to each individual child, through a positive, enjoyable - sometimes challenging, experience.

3 Where is Kingswood? The centre is called Peak Venture; it is located near Pennistone, close to Scout Dike Reservoir. It’s approximately 20 miles from school, which will be about an hours coach ride (less if you travel by car).

4 Which activities? We can’t promise which activities yet but we are very keen to participate in a water-based activity at the nearby reservoir. With over 40 activities to choose from: canoeing, abseiling, 3G swing, giant zipwire and raft building to name a few. We will be liaising with Kingswood to ensure the programme suits everyone in the year group.

6 What will we eat? The centre prepare and serve hot and cold, health meals. Children can also access the salad bar and there is always at least one vegetarian option, and yes, sometimes even chips. Children can help themselves to juice and water and any dietary requirement can be catered for.

7 Where do we sleep? Children will share a room with usually 3 other children. There’s access to separate hot showers and toilets. Teaching staff sleep nearby.

8 Will we be safe? Kingswood have policies and procedures designed to ensure their staff adhere to the highest safety standards at all times: • Continual safety and first aid training for all staff • Regular checks on equipment before and after every activity session • Qualified First-Aider on centre 24/7 All staff are fully DBS checked Kingswood cannot guarantee 100% safety for personal items brought to the centre and they would not be covered by insurance. It is therefore advisable to leave valuables – cameras, mobiles, iPods, MP3 players, computer games, jewellery - at home. A clearly named disposable camera is acceptable.
