News and Notes Ms. Kegler & Room 201 Week of October 10th –October 14th This week in… LITERACY: We will be introducing a new skill this week: I can understand the difference between characters by describing their points of view. Exit Slip: October 14th Take Away: When reading fiction at home with your child, talk with him or her about the characters point of view. A characters point of view is what they think, do, or say. MATH: We will test on Chapter 2, and then introduce Chapter Three: Basic Facts and Relationships. Math Vocabulary: addend, difference, digit, even, is equal to (=), odd, sum, ten Take Away: Practice basic addition and subtraction facts at home. Xtra Math is a great tool to use to build fact fluency. Common Assessment: Wednesday, October 12th SOCIAL STUDIES: We will be continuing with Chapter 1: What is a Community? Students will begin their community projects this week! EiE: We will continue our EiE unit: Just Passing Through. This week will we start exploring different items from nature that engineers developed ideas from. Some of these are: Velcro and burs, airplane wings and bird wings, and many more! Important Dates to Remember October 10th- No School October 11th- Special Lunch October 12th- Smencil Sale October 14th- Family Movie Night October 19th- Erin’s Law Presentation October 25th- Picture Retake October 31st- Halloween Party!
