Do you truly understand the gravity of the situation?
2
What is Gravity? Force exerted by every object in the universe on every other object
3
What Does Gravity Depend On?
Gravity Depends on 2 things 1. MASS Measurement of the amount of matter in an object 2. The DISTANCE between the two objects
4
NO What about Weight? NO NO Are weight and mass the same thing?
What is weight then? Weight is the measure of the force of gravity on an object NO NO
5
Is my weight different on the moon than on earth?
YES WHY? Because the gravity on the moon is less than on the earth! Remember: weight is directly related to the force of gravity!!!!!!!
6
Why is the gravity different?
Remember gravitational force depends on 2 things….. Mass and Distance between objects Mass of an object is a measurement of the amount of matter in an object Meaning the larger and fuller the object the greater the mass
7
What are the important questions here ?
Will my belly be smaller (meaning less mass) on the moon? NO Will my belly weigh less on the moon? YES
8
Take a trip around the cosmos
Weight on Earth lbs Weight on the Moon lbs Weight on Venus lbs Weight on Mars 57 lbs Weight on Jupiter 381 lbs Weight on Saturn 174 lbs
