The purple arrows indicate regions of the brain where it is easier to observe typical age-related degeneration or brain volume loss.
The blue arrows indicate regions where it is possible to observe greater volume loss/degeneration than is observed in an adult, aging brain. This particular brain does not have a lot of fluid build-up and thus is observably healthy, however damage will look like holes or dents in the brain and will be very dark (because it is filled with fluid).
