5th – 7th October Robinwood Activity Centre Dobroyd Castle

Pupil Groups The children will be put in to 4 activity groups. Where possible, they will be placed in a group with at least one friend. Each group is led by a Robinwood activity leader, with at least one member of EAPS staff. The children will find out which group they are in on the morning of the trip.

Activities Zip wire. Archery. Knight’s Quest (problem solving).

Activities Piranha pool. Night line. Giant swing. Dungeon of Doom.

Activities Climbing. Trapeze. Team Challenge.

Activities Canoeing. Obstacle course.

What do you need to do? Pack the bag together.
Use the packing checklist provided. Make sure your child can carry it! All items must be labelled with your child’s name. Robinwood staff wash and dry any wet and dirty clothes from the days activities and return them to the children. Only if they are labelled!! Labelled – maybe up to 8 children in a dormitory, some rooms are quite small. No aerosols.

Things to Bring All specialist equipment is provided.
Robinwood also provides a selection of additional clothing, which includes: heavy duty waterproof cagoules, heavy duty waterproof over trousers, warm fibre pile tops, warm fibre pile mittens, heavy duty wellies, footwear for water sports activities, full sets of clothing for the piranha pool additional towels. There is no need to go out and buy anything special. Old clothes are best!

Money Tuck shop No more than £3.
In labelled wallet or purse or sealed envelope. Sweets and chocolates as well as souvenirs: pencil, pen or ruler. Own food is not allowed. Tuck shop on Tuesday. £3 is enough! Chn responsible for own money. Keep it in their bag. Sweets and chocolate bars around 50p. Souvenirs – also have mugs and t-shirts. No other food allowed – they won’t be hungry or have time to eat! No food allowed on coach or in dormitories.

Meals and Snacks The children will be really well fed at all mealtimes. The children have some element of choice. Please let us know on the personal information form if your child is a vegetarian, has any allergies etc or is exceptionally fussy. Fruit/biscuits are available all day, as are water and juice.

Sleeping Arrangements
Practise putting on duvet cover and pillowcase! Rooms sleep 6 to 8 children. Staff rooms are on the same corridor. Robinwood Night duty staff patrol the corridors all night and will alert EAPS staff if there is a problem or if anyone is upset. The dormitories will be sorted out nearer the date but again children will be placed with at least one friend. Everyone to bring a teddy bear. Bathrooms are on the same corridor as the bedrooms.

Sleeping Arrangements
No one is allowed back in the rooms until bedtime. This is around 9, with lights out at 10. Children take a kitbag with them during the day. Robinwood staff go in during the day, check beds and change sheets where necessary. Call button like ones in a nursing home to alert the night duty staff to a problem.

Communication The Headteacher will be in regular contact.
If there is an emergency, please contact school. The children will not be allowed to ring home during the visit as this can be unsettling. Please do not send your child with a mobile phone or any other electrical equipment. No cameras are allowed. EAPS staff will take plenty of pictures and will publish them on the school website. More details and phone numbers to call in case of emergencies will be sent in a letter nearer the time.

Medicines Mrs Whittleston is in charge of medicines. Hand over labelled medicine and instructions on Wednesday morning. Take travel sickness tablet at home before school. Bring one in a named, sealed envelope for the journey home.

Cost £160 per pupil Actual cost for the visit is £237 + coach
PTA/School contributions lower the cost of the trip for Year 6 £20 deposit required ASAP to secure your place

Wednesday 5th October Please arrive at school by 8.55am.
Medicines to Mrs Whittleston. Everyone should meet in the school hall. Luggage labels. We expect to arrive back at school around 4pm on Friday 7th October, depending on traffic.

Before you leave... Take home a suggested clothing list and packing checklist. Please take a medical form away with you to complete and return to school. A letter will be sent out the week before the trip with any other last minute details.
