1 Y11 Achievement

2 Y11 at a glance…

3 Basic assessment expectations
Arrive in plenty of time to the correct room Line up and enter in silence Clear water bottles only - go to the toilet beforehand No mobile phones or materials on your person Clear pencil cases with the equipment required Leave in silence

4 Which one are you?

5 What’s on offer? Booster sessions at lunch time and after school
Study Support during PE time After school intervention sessions Half term/ holiday sessions run by commitment, specialist staff Mentoring and emotional support

6 Study Support Use these sessions wisely:
Independently: Homework/coursework/revision Specialist support: Extra Maths/English sessions/Option Subjects Quiet study area – maybe this is hard to find with a busy house at home? As Y11 we would like you to set the tone for the rest of the school It is NOT an opportunity to sit and chat with friends.

7 Why during PE Time? You have bespoke, tailored intervention sessions lead by our team of subject specialists. English English Literature GCSEs are now closed book. You will have to remember quotes. You will be expected to have a far wider knowledge of language terminology. Maths 3 papers instead of 2 with new topics. It’s harder than ever before with a greater emphasis on problem-solving.

9 But revision doesn’t work for me…
Then you’re doing it wrong! You can’t just revise things once.. You have to keep revisiting your lesson content…hence why homework is set. You also need to revisit your revision to keep toping it up. The next 2/3 weeks is the perfect time .

10 College and Apprenticeships
All require 5 A* - C, often needing more than a C in the subject you wish to take and C’s in English and Maths If you want to attend Toot Hill College you need a 5 in English & Maths, C grades and B’s in your chosen subject. If you want to study A Levels at College you need 5 GCSES (including E&M) A*-C but also a B in the subjects you want to continue If you want to study a vocational course or apprenticeship you will need 5 GCSE’s A*-C

11 Will they be happy with my mock results?
