Mrs. Hake Friday, Sept. 15th edition CLASSROOM news Sneak Peak AT NEXT WEEK Week in Review: This week we learned all about the letter Mm and Aa. We talked about family and friends. We read Ira Sleeps Over by Bernard Waber and wrote about the things we would pack for a sleep over. Another book about friends that we enjoyed reading and listening to is The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. We continued learning about how to sort objects by different attributes (color, shape, size) and we also continued learning about graphs, we made a graph about how many people are in our families. We are busy working on our reading and math groups, practicing/learning what we do, how we should look and sound during must-do, choice activities and team activities. Our class is doing well. Skipping – Students are working with the Physical Education Teacher on this skill too! Patterning with food, toys, colors… Highlight the letters and rainbow words that we have learned in a newspaper or a piece of junk mail. Discuss shapes you see everywhere. Review colors. Use them to pattern. Buttoning and zipping – this slows us down during restroom breaks. Pencil grip - pinch with two fingers and then rest. Cutting – Thumbs up with both hands and cut away from you. Practice cutting out different shapes and saying what the shape is. Keep reading! Our first Kindergarten field trip will be on October 12th. The field trip will be during regular kindergarten hours. We are going to Brumbaugh Farms to learn about apples and pumpkins. Our field trip will coordinate perfectly with our units on these topics. Tipp City School District is paying for this trip; therefore there is no cost for students. This experience at Brumbaugh Farms includes 1 ½ hours of learning all about how the farm works and how bees help fruit to grow. Each child will receive a pumpkin, apple, hayride, and will get to play and explore all the outdoor area fun that Brumbaugh has to offer! Please dress your child appropriately for this day. We will be eating at the farm for lunch. Please pack a sack lunch that is all disposable. The cafeteria will offer to pack a sack lunch for your child for regular lunch price.
