English Exit Each student must speak an English sentence to the teacher before exiting the classroom storytelling TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling video dialogues interactive powerpoint Jeopardy end of semester review competitive/interactive games turn and talk practice speaking to peers in target language culture share eg Chinese vs western New Year kinesthetic learning activities word race

3 Co Teaching Experience
General Comments three female co-teachers, one per grade level (4, 5, 6) excellent English proficiency also engaged in administrative duties at school Positives post/pre teaching conference every Friday shared classroom: “our” students/class vs “my” students/class excellent support during lessons constant feedback and suggestions for teaching activities Negatives adapting to three different personalities adapting to three different classroom management styles

4 Teaching Experiences General Comments
16 year veteran of the high school system taught at four schools in three countries (USA, St. Lucia, Taiwan) taught at first experience teaching elementary students in a formal setting Positives learning and adapting to a new teaching ideology students are positive and generally very eager to participate good support from friendly teaching staff a wealth of available materials for teaching

5 Teaching Experiences Negatives
exam culture affects teachers’ ability to teach for mastery issues with homework reduce time available for lesson language barrier affects efficiency of teaching textbooks are overly simplistic textbooks lack authentic activities excessive reliance on textbook lack of support for weaker students no English support outside of classroom teaching 6 periods per day for 3 days can be exhausting
