Symmetry Definitions Line symmetry: occurs when two halves of a figure mirror each other across a line. Point symmetry: occurs when a figure is built around a single point called the center of the figure. A simple test is to turn a figure upside-down and see if it looks the same. Rotational symmetry: occurs when there is a center point around which you can rotate the object a certain number of degrees and the object looks the same.
