Copyright, Design & Patents Act
To ensure people are rewarded for their endeavours To give protection to the copyright holder if someone tries to copy or steal their work.

Task -What is copyright? -Summarise the Copyright, design & patents act. -What implications does it have for businesses? -Are there any infringements of the copyright, design & patents Act that have been reported in the news? If so what?

Freedom of Information Act
Gives individuals and organisation the right to request information held by over 100,000 public bodies eg: -Central government -Government departments -Local authorities -Hospitals -Schools -Police -National Archives

Exemptions If the information would affect national security
If it is person data (what Act would this fall under?) If it would cause harm The cost of giving the information is too high
