Literacy
This week we have read the classic Brothers Grimm tale ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. We have been thinking of lots of different describing words for Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf.
We have also been learning to write lists. We wrote a list of the different things Little Red Riding Hood should pack in her basket for Grandma.
We also made vegetable soup to help make Grandma better.
This week we have been learning about Remembrance Sunday and have been reading the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. We have been making poppies, vegetable soup, wolf masks. We have also been learning a new song ready for our worship assembly which is on Wednesday the 23rd of November.
Phonics
This week we have learnt two new sounds and two new letters which are ‘b’ and ‘f’. We have been looking at their formations and have been finding different things around the classroom that start with these sounds. We also continued to practice reading and writing cvc words. Additionally, we have been learning to read the tricky words to, no, go, I and the.
Maths
This week we have been learning subtraction. We have been applying this skill in practical situations. We have also learnt about the number 13.
Next week we will be learning about number 14 and 15 and will be consolidating length and weight.
Notices
This weeks homework is sound ‘b’ and ‘f’ in your child’s sound book. Please can you make sure all of the previous sounds have been completed.
Next week is Maths week. We will be making Gingerbread for Mrs Astbury’s apprentice and therefore will be reading the Gingerbread man rather than Goldilocks and the three bears. Please could everyone bring in a cardboard box preferably in the shape of a cube as we are going to make Gingerbread houses out of junk modelling materials.
