3 Psalm 24 Part 1 (NIV) 1 The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it; 2 for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.

4 Psalm 24 Part 2 3 Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD?
Who may stand in his holy place? 4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god. 5 They will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God their Savior. 6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob.,

5 Psalm 24 Part 3a 7 Lift up your heads, you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

6 Psalm 24 Part 3b 9 Lift up your heads, you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty— he is the King of glory.

7 Part 1. Verses 1-2 One god? Why? Blasphemy! he created the world
he owns the earth and everything in it he subdued the waters of chaos he overpowered Yam, Nahar

8 YHWH, our Landlord Is your money serving and glorifying God?
Do you pray about major purchases? Are you praying for a partner to make you happy, or one that will make God happy? Are you seeking God's direction for career changes? How are you treating his world, his land? How are you living in our capitalist society, which makes profits by buying and selling things [that belong to God!]

9 Part 2. Verses 3-6 Who can approach YHWH? Enter his Holy Place?
The one who: has clean hands has a pure heart does not trust in an idol does not swear by a false god They will receive blessing, righteousness, from YHWH

10 Are these our gods? money? popularity? family? success at work?
health and fitness? Are we loving the gifts, instead of the giver? "The evil in our desire typically does not lie in what we want, but in that we want it too much." John Calvin

11 Part 3. Verses 7-10 "Lift up your heads, you gates, you doors"
Who is this 'King of glory'? Is it King David? No, it is YHWH! YHWH strong and mighty (v8) YHWH mighty in battle (v8) YHWH of hosts / of armies (v10, Ps 89:5-15)

12 Lessons for us The LORD is above all gods:
He is the creator, the LORD strong and mighty, the King of glory, the LORD of hosts (LORD of armies) He is above Baal, Yam, Nahar, Anat... Brahman, Allah,... New Testament shows us: Jesus is the King of glory The LORD welcomes us into his holy place: Not by our works, but by God's grace He forgives us, blesses us, gives us righteousness The LORD is my landlord: Do my choices, my lifestyle, show this?

13 Who is this King of Glory?
Hindus acknowledge multitudes of gods and goddesses. Buddhists say there is no deity. New Age followers believe they are God. Muslims believe in a powerful but unknowable God. Christians believe in a God (YHWH) who is loving and approachable. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
