3
A. The Scientific Process
Observation- describing an object using your senses Types direct observation is using your five senses to make an observation indirect observations use an instrument like a microscope or a telescope
4
A. The Scientific Process
Inference- using gained observations to form a conclusion
5
A. The Scientific Process
Hypothesis- educated guess A good hypothesis must be: testable In an “if then/because statement.” Design an experiment Materials Must be able to measure results
6
A. The Scientific Process
Collect & analyze data Retest?
7
A. The Scientific Process
Conclusion accept or reject hypothesis modify experiment
8
A. The Scientific Process
Communicate results- questions strengthen experiment
9
Create your own experiment
Think of a question you want to have answered. Form a hypothesis. Test your hypothesis. Collect and analyze your data using a graph and a chart. Form your conclusion. Was your hypothesis correct? Communicate your results in a paragraph.

Rules for your cube You must have at least 4 variables for each side. Example: colors, letters, names, symbols Each side must give clues of what is on the opposite side. Has to be clean! Has to have a unique theme. Has to have directions on how to solve it on the back side of the base paper. Has to be colored. Has to be at a high quality of work. Has to be doable, make sense to a wide range of people.
