What is science camp? https://vimeo.com/16037758
Science camp is an opportunity for students to apply what they have learned in the classroom in a hands-on, outdoor forest environment. Students go on hikes and nature walks where they get to see all the 6th grade science topics such as biomes, ecosystems, layers of the Earth’s core, and the food chain, come to life. Students will be able to see how nature works, observe flora and fauna, and even perform experiments. The five senses combine with critical thinking skills and team building activities to create a complete learning experience. From astronomy to ecology to botany, we are able to help students more than just memorize facts: they will incorporate knowledge and understand how nature works.

Where is it? Science camp is held at Thousand Pines Outdoor Science School in Crestline, CA in the San Bernardino Mountains about 1 hour away from the SAE Middle School.

Where do they eat and sleep?
Students will live in nice cabins for the 4 days we are there. They will eat their 3 meals in the dining hall.

Safety At Science Camp, your child will be supervised AT ALL TIMES.
Thousand Pines staff have all been fingerprinted and live-scanned. They will have a cabin leader that supervises them in their cabin, a trail leader that takes them on educational hikes, and we will be there as well. There is on-site security as well as a registered nurse.

How much is it? Science camp will cost over $20,000, for the school. We need to fundraise to lower the cost. We are trying to raise about $250 dollars per student. We want to make sure that every student goes regardless of their financial situation. We will work with you to make sure your child attends. We have established a donation plan, for those who can financially contribute.
