1 Conclusions

2 Good Conclusions: Restate the thesis and the main points of your essay
Make some conclusions about the author’s purpose for writing the whole book End with a final thought from you

3 1. Restate thesis and 3 main points
Should look similar, but REWORDED DO NOT just change one or two words – really look at rewriting the sentence…

4 2. Why the author wrote the book
Connect this to your theme But also BRANCH OUT to think of whole book Ex: Remember this book was about the 1930’s, but written in the 1960’s What does it say about mankind?

5 3. Final Thought Analyze the book – you did/didn’t like it?
What characters were most effective? What plot did you find most interesting? etc.

6 Stanza after stanza, Poe creates a compelling rhythm through repetition. He also uses repetition to emphasize his ideas, and he creates a dark and gloomy mood. These examples show how a simple concept such as repetition can give a poem depth and intrigue. Poe was a master of repetition, and “The Raven” is an excellent example of the ways he could apply it to achieve a variety of results. 1 2 3
