3. Final Thought Analyze the book – you did/didn’t like it?
What characters were most effective? What plot did you find most interesting? etc.

Stanza after stanza, Poe creates a compelling rhythm through repetition. He also uses repetition to emphasize his ideas, and he creates a dark and gloomy mood. These examples show how a simple concept such as repetition can give a poem depth and intrigue. Poe was a master of repetition, and “The Raven” is an excellent example of the ways he could apply it to achieve a variety of results. 1 2 3
