2 Several different angles for UI and access customization…
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software Several different angles for UI and access customization… Start Centers Can be configured at “user” or default/template instance level Content such as KPIs and Saved Queries can be created and shared for others Application Designer—provides powerful application cloning and/or customization. Some example uses… Terminology/label changes on apps App “cleanup” to remove irrelevant or change layout of items Conditional UI control behavior—hide/show buttons, change color, etc. Security Groups Group/role-based access to apps, functions and data Migration Manager tooling provides migration from dev/testbed to production deployment  Note that most custom configuration such as this is performed by “maxadmin” or a member of the MAXADMIN security group (not TPADMIN). 3 Start Centers—Configure your favorite app links…
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software Start Centers—Configure your favorite app links… Click the “Edit Portlet” (Pencil) icon… Select some applications and hit OK. Delete some applications from the list. And then click Finished… IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide

4 Start Centers—Configure your favorite app links…
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software Start Centers—Configure your favorite app links… You’ve customized your favorite application links… Note that this was configured for your user’s Start Center “instance”… Click “Update Start Center” to get the default template back If you’re the system administrator, you’ll probably be able to customize the global instance template for that Start Center and then save the changes for others to pick these up… Note that various other customization links and capabilities are available IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide

5 Key Performance Indicators…
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software Key Performance Indicators… KPIs can be used to give a brief summary graph or list directly on the Start Centers. For example, here are a couple of these showing compliance status of computers and groups… IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide

6 Key Performance Indicators…
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software Key Performance Indicators… If your user has authority, you can view, edit and/or create additional KPIs from the Administration | Reporting | KPI Manager application. For example, here’s the definition of one of the KPIs from the previous page… IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide

7 Application Designer…
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software Application Designer… Provides many application customization capabilities… Label modification Layout changes Irrelevant section removal Conditional Control configuration based on state, security group access, etc. Application extension—e.g. to show additional related objects on the same panel Application “cloning” to create custom or simplified versions of applications Etc… Provides WYSIWYG or XML-based editing See the Application Developer guide for additional information: IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide

9 Security Groups and customization of access…
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software Security Groups and customization of access… The Tivoli process automation engine provides very powerful and easy to access capabilities to customize function and data access. Some notes on these capabilities… Security Groups are mapped to functional roles Users are added to Security Groups. Users have “additive” access to all capabilities for all Security Groups they belong to. (More on Security in a later session.) Granular access to “Application Auth”/”Signature Options” provides control and access for specific functions in particular applications. Can define “conditions” on the access Data and group restrictions can also be defined (will be covered in session on Security) IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide

10 Security Groups and Application Access Customization…
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software Security Groups and Application Access Customization… The Applications tab provides filtered drill-down access to configuring access. Demo basic end-to-end of disabling access to a particular button based on role… IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide

11 IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software
Things to try out… Customize a Start Center Customize an application—good one to try is TPSERVER. Clone (duplicate) an Application and then customize it. (Initial cloning can take a few minutes…) Browse through the Security Groups application and configuration (probably best not to change things, more advanced.  ) IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide
