1 Skills and Techniques FEEDBACK

2 Feedback Feedback is information that you collect about your performance to help you improve. It can be external, or internal. External feedback can be: Verbal Visual Written Knowledge of Results

3 Feedback Feedback should be: Precise Accurate
Positive. (two stars and a wish) Easy to understand. Given as soon as possible.

4 Feedback How much feedback should you be giving/receiving?
One or two points each time. Why? So that you can focus fully on those points. Trying to correct too many things at a time will make the improvements harder.

5 Verbal Feedback Verbal feedback is external feedback that is given to you when somebody speaks to you about your performance. Who can give verbal feedback? Why would you choose verbal feedback? Immediate Clear Easy to understand Motivational

7 Visual Feedback Visual feedback, is external feedback that we receive through watching our own, or another's performance. How? Model performer Teacher demonstration Videoing our performance Why? Easy to see the strengths/weaknesses.

8 Written Feedback Written feedback is external feedback that we receive by reading it. How? Making notes on a performance. Newspapers Writing down key improvement points. Analysis sheets (OHC – remember???) Why? Clear and easy to understand. You can keep it on record.

This is written feedback on our overhead clear in badminton. 10 Internal Feedback Internal feedback is where we give ourselves feedback from our ‘kinaesthetic awareness’. This means, we know if something has gone well or not because we ‘feel’ it. For example – I knew immediately that my jump shot in basketball would not be successful because it did not feel right in my hands when I shot the ball. Why? Quick Personal Independent.

11 Knowledge of Results Another type of feedback is knowledge of results.
This is where we become aware of our strengths/weaknesses through our results. IN PAIRS. THINK OF AN EXAMPLE OF A TIME WHERE YOU RECEIVED FEEDBACK THROUGH YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF RESULTS. Why? It is easy to see where you are going wrong. You can easily see what needs to be worked on.

12 Feedback In groups of ¾ (Scribe, presenter, group manager, time keeper) You will be given one of: Written feedback Verbal feedback Visual feedback Internal feedback Knowledge of results Create a poster which shows: a graphic showing the main theme of your poster, the name of your feedback, what it is, why we use it, examples of when we’ve used in in SG PE.
