Concept of picking players and running a contest based on their year-to-date stats ad been around since shortly after WW2.
First reported fantasy baseball league was in 1960.
First reported fantasy football league was in 1962
There is football, baseball, basketball, soccer, cricket, rugby..basically any sport you can think of there is a fantasy league for it.

3. Fantasy Sports
A game where participants assemble virtual teams of real players of a professional sport and compete against friends.
Often times for money, sometimes for fun.
Either way, it is supposed to be entertainment of some sort.

Sometimes fantasy sports can force one to root against their home team.
