2. Friction Stir Welding Friction-stir welding (FSW) is a solid-state joining process (the metal is not melted) that uses a third body tool to join 2 faying surfaces. Advantages • It is more environmentally friendly • No filler wire required • Energy efficient • Easily automated on simple milling machines Disadvantages • It is less flexible than fusion welding • There are difficulties with thickness variations • Slower traverse speed than in some fusion welding tech.

4. External Environment 3C Model 3C Model is a business model that provides us with a strategic look of the factors needed for success. It was developed by business and corporate strategist Kenichi Ohmae. The 3C’s model points out that when developing a strategy one should focus on three key factors for success. In the construction of a business strategy, three main players must be taken into account, which include the Customer, the Competitors and the Corporation.

4. External Environment 3C Model The Customer Clients are the base of any strategy according to Ohmae. Therefore, the primary goal is supposed to be the interest of the customer and not those of the shareholders. The Competitors: Competitor based strategies can be constructed by looking at possible sources of differentiation in functions such as: purchasing, design, engineering, sales and servicing. The Corporation: The Corporation needs strategies aiming to maximize the corporation’s strengths relative to the competition in the functional areas that are critical to achieve success in the industry.
