2 The Outdoor Education Experience
Camp is a long standing tradition for Cougar Ridge 5th grade students. Provides a hands on science learning experiences. Builds camaraderie, friendship and team building skills. Creates 5th grade memories for life. Students will use the camp experiences throughout the year in a variety of academic areas.

3 Why Camp Warm Beach?? Warm Beach Camp is located on one of the finest eco-systems in the Northwest for the study of marine estuaries, upland forests, and human impact on natural systems. Windows, doors & heat!! Wide variety of activities. Covered meeting area in case of rain. Snacks will be provided for the students!

4 Parents on Patrol! We will need 5th grade parents to take on the safety patrol jobs . Please consider helping us with this enormous job. Sign ups are by the door.

6 Back Pack Sack Lunch, completely disposable
Water bottle that can be reused Coat Book or small (non-electronic) game Back Pack is the only thing student will bring to school on Wednesday

7 Traveling to Warm Beach
Students come to school at their regular start time (8:30 a.m.), with their back pack and disposable sack lunch. No binders or school supplies are needed. Camp buses will leave at 9:15 a.m. About an 1 ½ hour bus trip. Students will eat their sack lunches upon arrival at camp.

8 Accommodations Approximately 8 students & 2 parent chaperones in each cabin. Heated with windows & doors! Multiple bathrooms and shower facilities. Students will need a sleeping bag and pillow.

9 Café Warm Beach Buffet style dining.
Multiple food choices for each meal, including a vegetarian option. Morning and afternoon snacks, will be provided. Please do NOT send any food, snacks, or treats with your child.

13 Swimming or Put-Put? Students will have a choice to swim in the heated pools, play put-put golf or play games in the field. Don’t forget a swim suit, towel, & pool flip flops

15 What to Bring Please review the “What to Bring” list that went home with the camp packet. This list can also be found on the table at the entrance and on my website. Short list: Clothes, sleeping bag, pillow & towel Layers! Be prepared for all types of weather No Bell Hops at camp….students need to be able to carry ALL of their luggage a short distance.

16 Luggage Drop Off Luggage drop off is Tuesday, September 27th between 6:00 – 7:00 PM, here at Cougar Ridge. All luggage must be dropped off at this time except the student’s back pack. Luggage will be tagged and put directly into their chaperone’s vehicle. Look for your child’s chaperone name or cabin name displayed in the car window.

17 Welcome Home! Buses will arrive back at Cougar Ridge at approximately 1:30 p.m. Students are dismissed to go home with a guardian after checking out with their teachers. Please have a plan to pick up your tired, stinky, and very excited-to-be-home 5th grader and their luggage. Your child’s 5th grade teacher will be lined up in front of the building with their class for pick-up. Please let her know how your 5th grader will be going home prior to us leaving for camp.

18 Frequently asked questions
Even though my child says they do not want to swim, should I pack their bathing suit? Yes! The pool is warm and most kids choose this option. Can my child bring their kindle for reading? No, there are no electronics for the students. Can my child bring their cell phone in case there is an emergency? No, chaperones and teachers will all of their cell phones, please don’t worry. Can I request the chaperone my child gets placed with? No, cabin placement is based on students choices with teacher input. Who does cabin placement? Fifth grade teachers only. The camp coordinator has no input. Should I send snacks/candy? No! We will be providing many snacks and don’t want critters in the cabins. 
