2 6-1 Viruses Viruses contain a core of nucleic acid covered with a protein capsid Viruses can spread to humans through air, contaminated food and drinking water, insect bites or on the bodies of insects.

3 6-2 Monerans Bacteria are monerans; simple cells that do not have a true nucleus Bacteria have 3 basic shapes-spherical or coccus, rod-shaped or spiral and spiral or spirillum Blue-green bacteria make their own food through photosynthesis.

4 6-3 Importance of bacteria
Some bacteria are harmful and cause disease in plants and animals. Harmful bacteria can also spoil food. Helpful bacteria are used in the production of some foods, provide nitrogen for plants and animals, play important roles in the body, such as digestion, and produce products.
