Human Anatomy Unit I-Part B
Connective Tissue
2
Connective Tissue There are many different forms of connective tissue.
This type of tissue is very common in the body. There are many different forms of connective tissue. S 2
3
Connective Tissue It is used to connect muscle to muscle, bone to bone, and muscle to bone. S 3
4
Areolar Connective Tissue
Wrapper and pillow for organs Can destroy bacteria Moves tissue fluids S 4
5
Adipose Connective Tissue
Reserve fuel Insulator Cushion for organs S 5
6
Reticular Connective Tissue
Forms a net for other cells Supports cells such as liver cells in a soft skeleton S 6
7
Dense Regular Connective Tissue
Withstands tension in one direction Attaches muscle to bone and bone to muscle S 7
8
Dense Irregular Connective Tissue
Withstands tension in any direction Nonparallel fibers S 8
9
Cartilage Connective tissue with properties between those of bone and dense connective tissue Hyaline Elastic S 9
10
Hyaline Cartilage Good for cushioning
Resists extreme amounts of compressive stress S 10
11
Elastic Cartilage Extremely flexible
Can return to its original position S 11
