1. Glacier National Park “Shinning Mountains"

My project is on Glacier National Park in Montana, USA. It is also known to Native Americans as the "Shining Mountains" and the "Backbone of the World", Glacier National Park preserves more than a million acres of forests, lakes and Glaciers. This is why it is called Glacier National Park.

2. When Did it Become a National Park
Dr. and Mrs. George Bird Grinnell on top of Grinnell Glacier.
George Bird Grinnell, discovered the park in 1910 when they were looking for minerals in Montana.
They realized the land had its own unique beauty.
He then asked President Taft to establish Glacier National Park as the country's 10th national park.
For many years, the Glacier National Park area was one of many travel routes used by American Indians to cross the mountains and access resources, such as bison for food and its fur, but when George Grinnel was looking for minerals he decided that it should be preserved and kept natural to protect its beauty.
